Witness the historical value of the Central Highlands Vietnam right at Bao Dai Palace, Dak Lak
Bao Dai Palace is one of the most beautiful historical monument located at 4 Nguyen Du street, right on Nguyen Du – Le Duan street, Buon Ma Thuot city of Dak Lak province, annually attract a lot of tourists for its beautiful architecture and landscape of the Central Highlands, also known as the Museum of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups in Dak Lak.
The history of ancient trees is also the history of Buon Ma Thuot land, the historical mark is still on the old tree trunk, but the tree is still strong, standing with the city to this day. On April 15, 1950, Bao Dai established the Central Highlands, including Dak Lak, as the reigning dynasty, having its own governing regime. At that time that the house of the French Ambassador was handed over to the Government of Vietnam and the house became the residence of the Bao Dai king. After the fall of the former Emperor Bao Dai’s government, the building was used as a guesthouse for the South Vietnamese government when it was rolled out in Dak Lak. After 1975, the building was used as a guest house in Dak Lak province for a long time. In 1999, the house was recognized by the Ministry of Culture and Information as a national historical monument, then changing to the museum of ethnic groups in Vietnam in Dak Lak.
The Bao Dai palace formerly formed as the stilt house of Sabatier, the French Government’s Ambassador in the Central Highlands. In the Bao Dai Dynasty, the palace was rebuilt as the Bao Dai Palace maintained until now as the historical relic of Dak Lak. The Bao Dai Palace areas about 7ha, covering with many old trees with more than 100 years old, which will bring tourists more visualization about the historical value of the Central Highland Vietnam right at Dak Lak. The building possesses the beautiful architecture bearing the hallmark of the traditional house of the Ede Indigenous people, typically featuring tile roof and wooden floor.
Surrounded by a forest of ancient trees, the palace also impresses tourists with the very diverse flora. Most notably, there are 2 camphor trees planted symmetrically on both sides of the road, appearing the natural and unique beauty of this area as one of the largest camphor trees in Vietnam. From the entrance is 2 camphor trees on both sides of the gate, each tree has an original circumference of about 8 meters, spreading wide leaves to create a dignified scene. Tourists can relax right under the wide leaves, and immerse in the peace of nature in here. Also, coming to Bao Dai Palace, tourists have opportunities to open their mind with many cultural exhibits of more than 44 ethnic minority groups living in Dak Lak, including gong culture spaces and issues related to cultural identity.
